Attitude

As a result of diminishing numbers the future of a performing arts group in Runcorn was uncertain.

To regenerate the group the young people decided to create a promotional video, to encourage other young women to join the group.

The young women were really excited at the prospect of creating a video as it brought a new dimension to the sessions.

The young women were involved in every aspect of the video from writing the script to filming, the video was authentic and told the truth about the group, getting rid of the myths and images that surrounded the place.

The young women wanted maximum exposure on the project so advertisement was paramount, links with the local school was illuminated and identified as being the most practical way of recruiting new members, also by linking in with the school the profile of the group within the community was enhanced as the project raised public awareness.

The young women were also introduced to portfolio building working extremely hard on their portfolios, gathering evidence, cross-referencing etc. The portfolio also looked at what they were doing in their spare time looking at what was important to them, exploring issues, interests and aspirations. The portfolio building inspired the young people to do a little bit extra work and complete their Bronze Youth Achievement Awards.
