Don’t Suffer in Silence Project

Eight young people from Birkenhead YMCA worked together on an Anti- Bullying Project.

The main purpose of the project was to make the group aware of the different types of bullying and that certain behaviour is not considered to be ‘just having a laugh’.

The sessions highlighted the young people’s awareness of bullying within the group and this followed on with group discussions about people’s experiences and feelings.

The group wrote and performed two very dramatic
drama pieces and designed a 4ft by 5ft mosaic art piece on the theme of bullying which will hang on their wall at the YMCA. It can be used as a discussion piece for future friendship issues and bullying workshop with the group and also with new members as it highlights the fact that if anyone is being bullied within the group it is best to tell someone instead of ‘suffering in silence’.

The group completed Bronze Youth Achievements Awards and Youth Challenge Awards.
