SOPHIE ROBINSON

Sophie, from Portsmouth Grammar School was  based at the Hub in Ellesmere Port Sophie organised and delivered the Postal Quiz; the London Trip; worked at the Lache Adventure Playground and on a Young Mum’s Project.

Sophie was also involved with the SPIDER and Choices groups, working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.  Sophie quickly formed a bond with one young woman, Yvonne.  The opportunity arose for Sophie to accompany Yvonne as a ‘buddy’ on the Jubilee Sailing Trust Ship for a voyage around Gran Canaria.  This proved to be an extraordinary experience and one that Sophie treasured greatly.

“One of the highlights of the trip was seeing Yvonne starting to climb up the mast.  I knew what a personal challenge that was for her and I feel proud that she decided to stretch herself and achieve”

‘During my time with the Fed I have had the chance to live and work independently.  I have been given responsibility for organising events which has increased my self confidence and organisational skills.’

They have helped me gain confidence to try new things and push my personal development further. I have worked with colleagues and developed my own pieces of work with help always at hand when I needed it’

‘I don’t think I realised how far I had travelled until I looked back’
