Aim of the event:
To provide an opportunity for young people to:
- Complete a series of fiendish challenging tasks
- Be taken out of their comfort zone
- Meet and talk with people they do not normally associate with
- Raise the profile of young people in their local community
- Learn lots of new skills (organisational, personal, communication, practical)
- Commit to 2 weeks hard work
- Document and record their work
- Have fun
Examples of typical Tasks:
- Complete a very difficult 100 question quiz
- Make 5 Alien puppets
- Announce a train arrival and departure
- Complete a Treasure Trail in Liverpool
- Research 10 famous humanitarians
- Organise and host a children’s party with an alien theme for 15 children
- Have photographs taken wearing the strip of a Premiership Football Club in their ground
- Cook a 3 course meal using fresh ingredients for Youth Club Management and workers
- Ask a Labour, Tory and Liberal Democrat Councilor about their views of Every Child Matters
- Paint a mural for their club walls
- Fund-raise to buy an item of equipment for their club
- Plant a tree
Each team is given a series of tasks to complete.
These can range from making a life size sculpture of an elephant, to interviewing Bank Managers, to planting trees, to organising parties for juniors or OAP's, to taking part in Treasure Trails, to producing a piece of art work, cooking a three course meal and so on and is run over the two week Easter Holiday period
